5 days Rwanda-Congo Gorilla Tour Itenary

Day 1: Transfer from Kigali to Volcanoes National Park
Our guide from African treasures will meet you at your place of destination or hotel in Kigali and brief you about what exactly you are going to do and what will be necessary during the tour. This is basically to make you ignorant about the tour  you are to go for.

Day 2:First Gorilla Trekking- Volcanoe National park- Rwanda
5 days Rwanda Congo Gorilla TourEarly morning after your breakfast, you will take a short drive to the headquarters of Volcanoes National Park where you will be briefed by the park warden about your gorilla trekking activity. the activity lasts between 2-3 hours with the gentle giants. The terrain is rough and at times muddy therefore the hikers have to be physically fit and equipped. Upon meeting the gorillas, you will stay with them for 1 hour before heading back to your accommodation facility for lunch. In the afternoon you will take a community walk around neighboring communities of the forest, interact with the local people and learn about their way of life.

Day 3: Travel to Bukavu – DR Congo
Wake up early, have breakfast at your hotel and hit the road with your tour guide driving towards the Cyangugu border to cross to DR Congo. You will visit the national museum in Butare, the king’s palace in Nyanza, and the genocide site and en-route lunch in Butare, the second-largest city after Kigali. You will have clear views of  Rwanda’s largest freshwater lake ‘lake Kivu’. Arrive in the evening for dinner and overnight at Coco lodge (luxury), Orchid safari lodge(Mid-range), Horizon Hotel (Budget).

Day 4: Lowland Gorilla Tracking-Kahuzi Biega National Park
Start the second gorilla trekking activity in the low lands of Kahuzi Biega National Park. This day you trek the lowland gorillas of the DR Congo which are found in Kahuzi Biega National Park. You will also go for the routine briefing and thereafter proceed for the memorable adventure of trekking the lowland gorillas in Kahuzi Biega National park. The lowland Gorillas stay in bigger families as compared to mountain gorillas. After tracking, you will go for a nature walk in the Kahuzi Biega National Park and visit Tshibati waterfalls, Bukavu town, Mbayo tea plantations, the research center, and the surrounding traditional homes. Return to the hotel for dinner and overnight.

Day 5:Transfer back to Kigali
On the last day of this tour, our guide drives you back through DR Congo to Rwanda and to the destination of your choice, you will be driven back to Kigali crossing through the Cyangugu border. Reach Kigali late in the afternoon to drop off at the hotel or airport.
