Bwindi National Park Uganda is located in south-western Uganda on the edge of the western rift valley covering 331 sq. kms.  It is one of the largest natural forests in East Africa, supporting large number of plants and animals not found elsewhere in the continent.

The park is Located amidst magnificent forests in the extreme end of south western Uganda, across the steep escarpments of the western rift valley, Bwindi is the only park in the world which is famous for harboring almost half of the world’s endangered gorillas. There are now only 650 left in the world! It is worthwhile for you to encounter one group of habituated gorillas believed to be the origin of mankind; the hottest attraction in Uganda today!

The forest is also a habitat for over 80 species of mammals, other primates and 346 species of bird life of which almost 90% of them are endemic to East Africa. Performances by the local communities in the evening around Buhoma are worthwhile to see or cultural village walks to meet and interact with the local communities are optional activities to be done.

Mt.Elgon National park Uganda is the shell of an ancient volcano.  Its highest peak, Wagagai, reaches 4321 m, making it the 4th highest peak in Africa.  Though much erosion has taken place, after millions of years of erosion the remaining oval shaped caldera now measures roughly 7 by 8 kms, one of the largest in the world.  This 1145 sq. kms park shares its eastern border with Kenya .

Mt.Elgon National park UgandaMt Elgon is found in the eastern part of Uganda and sits by the Kenyan borderland is the shell of an ancient volcano. The main attractions here are the waterfalls and caves that were once used by indigenous people, hot springs the mountainous vegetation, the various peaks, suam gorge and the caldera itself.

In the vicinity of Mt Elgon is the sipi falls, Uganda’s most romantic and beautiful water falls. It is the perfect place to relax and wander, exploring the many falls and caves. Excursions to climb Mgt Elgon to visit the rock painting or to go rafting on the Nile are natural extensions to a visit in the area.

The Bagisu and the Sabiny who practice circumcision every even year are the inhabitants of the area and will perform cultural dances upon request. June to August and December to March are the best times to visit the park since this is the dry period although you can also visit any season as it does not require any hiking equipments.

The park contains varied peculiar attractions of montane forests, bamboo, giant Lobelia, brilliant species of flowers, birds, bushbucks, antelopes, wild cats, rock hyrax, hyenas, caves, craters, gorges, the magnificent Sipi falls and many more.

Queen Elizabeth National Park

Queen Elizabeth National Park is one of the outstanding treasures of Uganda.  The park has recently been designated a Biosphere Reserve for Humanity under UNESCO.

The park covers 2000 sq. kms and includes a remarkable variety of eco-systems; from semi-deciduous tropical forest to green meadows, savannah and swamps.  It is the home of the famous tree-climbing lions, the Uganda kob and other antelope as well as elephant, buffalo, hippos, baboons, and chimpanzee.

Over 500 species of birds have been recorded here making it prime target for birdwatchers.  Species recorded include the shoebill stork, black bee-eater, 11 types of kingfishers and a variety of raptors including several falcons and eagles.  In the crater lakes, spectacular flocks of flamingos gather, creating the image of a moving pink carpet. The park is located in the Western Arm of the Great East African Rift valley; the park extends its horizons to the foothills of magnificent scenery of Mt Rwenzori in the North to Ishasha sector southwards famous for rare tree climbing lion’s.
The launch trip along the Kazinga Channel between Lake George and Edward is a memorable way to view the variety of game in Queen Elizabeth.

Actually the park is a treasure, a rich habitat of savanna, equatorial rainforests, papyrus swamps, Crater Lakes, baboon’s cliff, kyambura gorge Kazinga channel, Lake Edward and Lake George, full of animals and birds.

Lake Mburo National Park contains an extensive area of wetland and harbours several species of mammals including Zebras, impalas, elands, topi and buffaloes.

The bird population includes the rare shoebill stork, it’s sculptured landscape with rolling grassy hills and idyllic lakeshores has a varied mosaic of habitats: forest galleries, rich acacia tree valleys, seasonal, and permanent swamps which all support a wealth of wildlife.

The park is only 370km and the smallest of Uganda’s Savannah national parks. Its mosaic habitat: dry hillside, rocky outcrops, bushes, thickets, open and wooded Savannah’s, forests, lakes and swamps are home to a suprising diversity of plants and animals.
