Buligi Peninsula
The park’s prime game viewing area lies on the Buligi Peninsula, a triangle of grassland bounded by the Victoria Nile entering Lake Albert, and the Albert Nile flowing out if it. Expect to see elephant, buffalo, antelopes and giraffe and keep your fingers crossed for lion and leopard. The game track network converges at Delta Point where the Nile flows north out of Lake Albert Delta

Visitors can also take to the air to explore the plains north and west of Paraa in a hot air balloon. Contact the Jobihani Dream Balloons office at Paraa Safari Lodge
Heart of Murchison
While much of the southern part of MFNP is covered by bush and forest, a delightful tract of savanna rolls down to the river from the Rabongo road in the very center of the park. Vehicle tracks have recently been opened in this area, which thanks to substantial herds of Uganda kob, is becoming known as a prime location for lions. The ‘Heart of Murchison’ lies 20 km east of the Masindi-Paraa road.

Hiking and Nature walk Murchison Falls National Park
Hiking and Nature walk in Murchison Falls National Park are among the amazing and interesting ventures that will make you appreciate the nature in Murchison Falls National Park, come feel, touch, see the nature to the fullest. This is a great experience you will leave to tell in life.
Murchison Falls National Park has various features in favor of Hiking and Nature walking
Kaniyo Pabidi forest
This is an area of Natural forest in the Budongo forest located about 8km from Kichumbanyobo gate along Paraa road in Masindi. It is a great place for hikes and nature walks and mainly chimpanzee tracking is done here. Also other things to see are the big ironwood and Mahogany trees, birds can be spotted such as the Hornbills, Chocolate backed Kingfishers among others. While here there are no worries since there is a camp site equipped with firewood and water.
Rabongo Forest
It is located in the southeast of the conservation area and approximately a 1 hour and 30 minutes drive from Paraa. It is a great place for hiking and nature walks together with primate trekking. This area is encompassed with savannah grasslands and also here you find good forest cottages and a campsite. During your walk you can spot beautiful birds, medicinal trees/plants, primates like verve t monkeys, black and white Columbus, baboons, red-tailed monkeys, chimpanzees among others.
Murchison falls also known as Kabalega Falls, is a waterfall between Lake Kyoga and Lake Albert on the White Nile River in Uganda. At the top of Murhison Falls, the Nile forces its way through a gap in the rocks, only 7 metres (23 ft) wide, and tumbles 43 metres (141 ft), before flowing westward into Lake Albert.
Hiking as an activity
Is an experience that brings all the senses into play watch waves of white water tumble hypnotically through this six-meter chasm, listen to the roar, taste the spray on your face and feel the rock shake beneath your feet. Sheer sensory overload! If you don’t fancy the trek to the top, stop off at the north bank during your game drive, and walk down a set of steps to stand within meters of the rapids.
Get explanations from the guide about the white form that these falls make which many ignorantly believe that the force at which the water comes through the narrow space between the rocks was the cause of the form , but the tour guide will explain how the Leaves fall into the water and decompose and as they mix with some rock mineral, they form that white form as water comes gushing out of the narrow plum. Standing at that point you can see clearly the Murchison falls and take lots and lots of great pictures.
Nature walks through the Kaniyo Pabidi forest and Rabongo Forest These area is encompassed with savannah grasslands and also here you find good forest cottages and a campsite. During your walk you can spot beautiful birds, medicinal trees/plants, primates like vervet monkeys, black and white Columbus, baboons, red-tailed monkeys, chimpanzees among others.
Birders and nature lovers can enjoy short treks starting from Sambiya River Lodge or Mubako Junction, both on the south bank, or a walk along the north bank from Paraa, passing the Emmy River. All walks last from one and a half to two hours.
This is an open venture where one physically involves in exploring the nature in its natural state.
